Creative Sewing |
Creative Sewing will have a total of 4 projects
- Tote with pocket, zipper, button, and embroidery
- Project 1
- Project 2
- Project 3
You may select any patterns for your 3 projects, but you must meet 15 requirements while sewing your projects. If you are uncertain, I would highly suggest picking a pattern that says "Easy to Sew" on it for your 1st project. |

Creative Sewing Independent Study |
Level 1 CSIS will have a total of 4 projects
- Quilted tote bag or backpack appliqued and embroidered with personal logo
- Skirt – must have zipper, style of your choosing, fabric your choice (everyone needs a basic skirt)
- Redesigned pattern – choose a garment to fit upper part of body Find a style in magazine or online, find pattern that would most closely complete design then redesign pattern as needed to match style
Use flat pattern book to see how to slash and spread to change design or….. combine two patterns to create a different design of garment
- Choose a fabric that would be difficult to work with, satin, slinky polyester, stretchy knit, fake fur, glittered. Choose a pattern that would work with that fabric. Research and print out information on how to best work with that fabric (needle size, thread type, specialty feet) – print out information be sure to check machine instruction book for more information. Purchase fabric, notions and pattern, practice on scrap fabric, follow directions and construct garment

Creative Sewing Independent Study Level 2 and 3 |
Level 2 & 3 CSIS will have 4 projects requiring more detail
- Repurpose project – bring to school an old garment or two that can be taken apart and repurposed into another garment. Use old formals, moms or grandmas old clothes, worn out jeans, Project must be a garment however you can use leftover fabrics to create accessories.
- Original design created, digitized and embroidered on something (sweatshirt, garment, pillow, blanket)
- Fully lined buttoned coat or jacket with collar and lapel. Must have bound buttonholes, hand sewn hems
- Semi formal or formal dress suitable for evening.
Choose a pattern (highly suggest Vogue patterns)
If interested JoAnn fabrics is running a make it your own prom contest which you may enter
The order in which you complete projects 2 – 3 and 4 is up to you. |
