With the increasing prevalence of science and technology in our world, well-trained and socially aware professionals have become indispensible. The SURE program fulfills this need by engaging students in the scientific search for solutions to real-world problems. Abstracts of the 2011 S.U.R.E. projects can be viewed here. The in-depth research process that students participate in allows for the development of vital professional skills through a series of developmental seminars:

Students spend the majority of their time working with faculty mentors on a research project within their disciplines; participation in educational field trips and social events foster camaraderie within the group. The Summer Undergraduate Research Experience at Lewis University is supported by the Office of the Provost and the Dean's Office of the College of Arts and Sciences. Lewis University is a Catholic university in Romeoville, IL; rooted in the LaSallian tradition which emphasizes the importance of teaching, Lewis offers a number of undergraduate and graduate degrees on several regional sites across the country.
