Maker Sessions 2025-2026
These Saturday classes are designed for girls in 6th through 10th grade. Each session will focus using technology to design and create a certain type of object. No experience is necessary. Girls may attend any or all of the classes but they must register for each session separately. Each session is limited to 20 girls.
We will meet on Saturday Mornings or Sunday Afternoons in the Computer Science labs located in the Science Center on the main campus of Lewis University.
Fall 2025 Sessions
Join our hands-on AI & Math session to explore
how artificial intelligence uses mathematics to solve real-world problems. Learn the basics of
algorithms, probability,
and linear algebra in action—then apply them to train simple models, make predictions, and
understand the math behind
machine learning. Discover practical techniques and tips to connect equations with intelligent
systems!
Registration Open
Launch into the science of rocketry with a hands-on building session using the Smithsonian Rocket Kit! Learn the basics of aerodynamics,
propulsion, and Newton’s laws of motion while constructing and
customizing your own rocket. Explore how design choices affect flight, stability, and speed—then see theory
come alive with a safe demonstration launch. Discover the excitement of engineering and physics in action!
