The first hot air balloon was launched on September 19th 1783 by a scientist, Pilatre De Rozier. A sheep, duck, and a rooster were the first passengers on the balloon. The balloon stayed afloat for a total of 15 minutes before crashing to the ground. The first hot air balloon to carry man came 2 month later on November 21st made by 2 French brothers, Joseph and Etienne Montgolfier. From the center of Paris the balloon was launched and flew for 20 minutes and thus began the birth of hot air ballooning!
