Learning to code is a basic literacy of the 21st century. Unfortunately, computer science is often not part of the curriculum in middle school and high school. The only exposure that children typically get to this important area is through extracuricular programs. The students that attend these programs are typically white and male. In order to expose more girls to this important field, I developed the Girls Create with Technology Program. In this program girls learn about computer science by using techonology to make things such as robots, mobile apps and web sites.
