Question of the Week

The purpose of the Question of the Week is to assist students in becoming better problem solvers. I expect students to struggle a first, try several different strategies and to work independently to construct their own understanding of the question. I encourage all students to attempt the question. Students can either answer the question anonymously or they can sign their name to the blog. The main purpose of this question is to encourage students to be independent thinkers.

Some strategies that students may want to try to solve the question include:

1. Draw a diagram/picture/graph
2. Make a table
3. Guess and check
4. Look for a pattern
5. Start at the end/work backwards
6. Make an organized list
7. Solve a simpler problem
8. Make a model
9. Restate the problem
