Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense

The Cybersecurity Center @ Lewis University contributes to the knowledge, skills, and abilities of current and emerging cybersecurity professionals to guide their logic, critical thinking and ethics through our undergraduate and graduate programs, our experiential learning courses, and community outreach activities. Our program is validated and designated by the National Security Agency as an National Security Agency Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense education. This designation allows Lewis University and the Center to advance cybersecurity capabilities regionally and nationally; increase the number of trained cybersecurity practitioners; generate educational, outreach and research activities crucial in the protection of our nation’s infrastructure. The Center is housed in Lewis University’s College of Aviation, Science and Technology.

    Signal has just rolled out its quantum-safe cryptographic implementation. Ars Technica has a really good article with details: Ultimately, the architects settled on a creative solution. Rather than bolt KEM onto the existing double ratchet, they allowed it to remain more or less the same as it had been. Then they used the new quantum-safe ratchet to implement a parallel secure messaging system.

    Microsoft is warning of a scam involving online payroll systems. Criminals use social engineering to steal people’s credentials, and then divert direct deposits into accounts that they control. Sometimes they do other things to make it harder for the victim to realize what is happening.

  • 2025SMART Scholarship for STEM Students - The Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program is now accepting applications. SMART offers a unique opportunity for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students to advance their education and jumpstart their careers.
