About Me
Hello, my name is Marek Arthur Blizinski and I was born on April 16th, 1994. I live with both
of my parents and a younger sister. My dad is a mechanical engineer and my mom is a stay home
mom. I attended St. Ladislaus until the end of 5th grade and the rest of my elementary career
I was homeschooled. When I was homeschooled, my mom borrowed books from the local library for
me to learn and I taught myself the knowledge I have as of today. She also wanted me to do something
productive so she signed me to a program called "KUMON Math and Reading Center". When I attended
KUMON, that is where I got my passion for math and from there on I started tutoring my friends
and even my sister to become good in mathematics. I finished the whole math and reading program
in two years with high honors. Once I entered St. Patrick High School, which is an all guy's school,
I joined a lot of clubs. Some of the clubs that I joined were the chess club, Spanish club, Book
Discussion Group, and the Science Club. Also throughout my educational career, I attended a different
school where I learned the language of the country from which my parents came from, Poland. The things
that I did at Polish school were learning the history and geography of Poland and how to speak, write,
and read in polish. When I was homeschooled, my parents also assigned me to a school named "The People's
Music School," where I learned how to play the piano. I attended that school until the end of my senior
year of high school. I still continue to play the piano for special occasions such as Christmas and for
fun to just relax. At Lewis, I am a sophomore where I am double majoring in the fields of Computer Science
with a focus in Cyber Security and Mathematics. Also at Lewis, I am a Eucharistic minister and a greeter
at mass on Sunday and I am a part of the American Chemical Society (ACS) where I am a part of the Board.
The things that I do on the Board of the ACS are talking about the new upcoming events and how to prepare
for them. Also, I am the secretary of the Polish club that my friends and I started second semester of my
sophomore year.
My Interest
Even though I have a lot of hobbies (i.e. collecting model airplanes, reading books, playing
the piano, etc.) the one thing that I like to do for fun when I have a lot of free time is
playing a lot of games of chess. I started to play chess well before going to St. Patrick High
School and joining the team where I was a part of for 4 years. The person that got me into playing
chess was my dad. Thanks to him, the strategies that I use during the game I also try to use during
my life to accomplish the things that I have to get done. The reason why I like to play chess is
that when I have a lot of stuff on my mind or the day is not going as I planned on it to be, a nice
game of chess helps me to relax and not think too much about the things that are going on all around
me. After playing chess for quite some time, it helped me develop my memory, improve my concentration,
promote my imagination and creativity, taught me how to be independent, inspired me to be self-motivated,
opened up the world for me and it got me to excel in my schoolwork, especially in mathematics because it
helped me develop my logical thinking. What I mean by logical thinking is that it taught me how to think
outside of the box rather than inside of the box. Also, the game of chess helped me to meet a lot of new
people that I didn't know. Since I am going to be a junior at Lewis, maybe I will try to create a chess
club on campus so that I can try to get people to meet other people, get them to be self-motivated, maybe
try to get them to excel in their schoolwork, and help them to think outside of the box rather than just
inside of the box.
What I want to be when I grow up
When I first came to Lewis, I chose to major in Biochemistry and later on in the semester
I chose to major in Mathematics as well. Towards the end of my first semester as a sophomore,
I was debating on if I should or should not continue to major in Biochemistry. Since I was a
math major, I looked at my math classes and I finally chose to become a Computer Science major
because there were a lot of the same classes in both majors. So I chose to switch from Biochemistry
to Computer Science. When I chose Computer Science I wanted to have some type of concentration so I
looked at the options they gave (i.e. Game and Simulation Programming, Cyber Security Operations,
Persuasive Computing, and Computational Theory) and I chose Cyber Security because it looked and sounded
like a lot of fun. When I found out what happened over Christmas break at Target with the credit card
swipes, I was happy that I switched over. So when I grow up, I want to become a Cybersecurity Specialist
because I want to protect the identity of the American people and secure the nation from any type of
threats that are out there in the world. When I do become a Cybersecurity Specialist, the top threee places
where I would want to work at would be in the army, FBI, and the White House.
About my computer
In my opinion, I believe that the HP dv7-7030us Enterntainment PC is a good computer. Here are some of the
specs that this laptop features:
- Intel Core i7-3610QM (2.30GHz)
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
- 8 GB DDR3 Memory
- 1 TB Hard Drive
- Intel HD Graphics 4000
- 17.3" High Definition (720p) LED backlit display (1600 x 900)
- 9-cell 100WHr lithium-ion battery
- 3 USB 3.0
- 1 USB 1.0
- HP TrueVision HD Webcam with integrated dual array digital microphohne
- 10/100/1000 Ethernet
The first reason why this computer is a good computer is that it is able to process a large amount of
documents. The second reason is that it is fast and it has a great battery life which can hold up to 9.5 hours
without charging. The third reason is that due to its large screen, you can have multiple windows open at the
same time. Finally it is able to store a lot of data due to its 1 TB Hard Drive and 8 GB memory. On the other
hand, if you want ot use it towards entertainment, it is also great because it has Beats Audio which gives
you crisp sound when listening to music and/or watching movies. In my opinion based on a scale of 1-10, 1 being
the lowest and 10 being the highest, I would give it a 9.5 rating.
