During July 15 to July 18, I learned how to program computers. Specifically, I learned how to make two different kinds of robots respond to my commands.
One of the robots I used was called a finch robot. It was the first robot I've ever used. When you hooked the USB up to your computer, you were able to move it around because it was on wheels. And make it talk with a program called Bird Brain. Hummingbird kit.
We also used a hummingbird kit to build are own robot. I worked with Marissa Kmetty and we built an elephant named, Angel. We made her out of a box and styrofoam, and gray fabric.
She makes an elephant trumpeting noise and her trunk swings back and forth when motion is detecting.She also has a bow in her hair that changes colors to represent her personality.
I was never interested in computer science, until I came to Girls Create with Technology. I love to work with robots and I love to design them. Camp was so much fun!
I will definately do it next year, if the offer is available, and I recommmend to all girls who want to try something new!
